We set off from Dunedin early this morning for a long drive up the eastcoast to Christchurch. We stopped along the way at the Moeraki Boulders, which are these huge, naturally occurring spherical rocks on the beach. No one can really explain why they are so perfectly round, or why they are even there – but they look pretty cool anyway!

We got a coffee at the beach and then continued on to Christchurch. Once we arrived we checked in to the hostel and then headed in to the town to explore. Christchurch was hit pretty bad by a huge earthquake a few years ago, so lots of the city is still in rubble or surrounded by scaffolding and being re built. You can tell it would have been an amazing city before, and feel pretty awful for the people that have to live in this building site every day from now on! We walked around the botanical gardens and along the river Avon before finding somewhere for dinner. We had tacos and beers at Mexicanos and then headed to The Little Neighbourhood for a margaritas, table tennis and a terrible game of darts before heading home for the night!
