Triple post today due to a heavy weekend in Wellington!
It was so good to be back in the city, and great to stay with John again too. We arrived late on Saturday night after chilling out in Picton for the day and then getting an evening ferry over to the north island. We chilled out at Johns once we arrived and had a few drinks at his and a bit of an impromptu gathering! Didn’t have a mega late one as we were up early the next day for Newtown Festival.
The festival was so much fun, and definitely worth heading up to wellington a day early for!
The streets are all closed off to traffic, and there are loads of stages put up and tons of street food stalls and bars. There was live music on all Day and the weather was beaut! We watched a crazy German band called Bonaparte, who were 100% the highlight of the festival. In the evening after the music was over there were tons of after parties all over town. We went to a couple of John’s mates houses, and then on to a bar until the early hours.
On Monday we headed into town for some lunch at Sweet Mother’s Kitchen… I really wanted to go back to Burger Liquor for that amazing veggie burger but there just wasn’t time!
We then drove up the West Coast to Taranaki, stopping off in Wanganui on the way. Luckily we arrived in time to see Mt. Taranaki in the sunset, which we will go and explore closer tomorrow!
Pretty much the only picture evidence of the weekend – Bonaparte
