A bit of a late post, but a post none the less! It’s been a busy couple of days in Bondi; hitting the beach and the bar!
We started off our weekend with a morning at the beach while we waited till we could check into our hostel. We are staying just minutes from the coast, and even have a huge roof terrace where you can see all across Bondi and out to Bronte Beach.
After checking in we got a bus to Coogee beach to go and meet mel and her friends from Bondi. There’s a big grassy picnic area with BBQs that you can use too, so perfect for a party! We spent the afternoon drinking and catching up in the sunshine (it’s been 7 months since she left Bracknell for bondi!).
In the evening we grabbed a pizza from New York Slice on Bondi Beach, and then headed to Ravesis bar for the evening to meet Mel and carry on the party.
After a very boozy Saturday, I thought that Sunday morning might be a bit of a write off… but we managed (somehow?!) to get up at 6.30 to see the sunrise. We walked down to the coast and got an amazing view from Bondi Icebergs Pool, before heading down to the high street to grab some stuff for breakfast.
After a quick power nap, we made avocado bagels for brekkie and ate them in the sunshine on the roof of the hostel… talk about #BrunchGoals!
The weather in aus has been amazing so far, but Sunday was just unbelievably hot. 36 degrees in the day time! After eating we decided to do the coastal path from Bondi to Bronte to try and walk off our hangovers. On a normal day it’s a pretty easy walk, but when you’re nursing a hangover and melting in the sun simultaneously, it proves to be a bit trickier!
After we made it to Bronte we chilled on the beach and had a dip in the coastal pool there. The sea is so wavey that it’s almost impossible to swim, so they have coastal pools at all the beaches in Bondi, that fill up naturally with sea water.
There’s not much in the way of shops or cafes in Bronte so we headed back to Bondi to get some lunch. I know it sounds dramatic but I genuinely thought I was going to pass out on the walk back! It was just so hot that we had to have a little break in the shade half way there, otherwise I don’t think I would have made it home haha!
After getting lunch at Bondi Fresh (an amazing and cheap salad bar) we headed to Bondi Icebergs Pool for an afternoon swim, and then went back to the hostel to get ready for the evening.
At 8pm it was still 34 degrees and we were melting while we walked back down to the beach to meet Mel for dinner. We went to Macelleria for amazing burgers and BYO wine – nothing like a bit of hair of the dog!
